CBJ arrests absconder after four years

JAMMU, Jan 11: The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Jammu (CBJ) today claimed to have arrested an absconder who was evading his arrest for the past four years.
A Crime Branch spokesperson said that Kulranjan Sharma of Rani Talab Digiana was booked along with two other persons, Kulbir Singh of RS Pura and Narotam Singh of Marjali Kangril Jammu, in case FIR number 39/2020 Under Sections 420, 465, 468, 471, 120-B RPC at Police Station Crime Branch Jammu, for their involvement in hatching a criminal conspiracy and cheating one person of Rs 23.5 lakh by getting a bank loan sanctioned in his favour for sale of JCB.
“After collection of evidence, a charge-sheet was presented in the court of law against Kulbir Singh and Narotam Singh but Kulranjan Sharma continued to evade his arrest by constantly changing his locations,” he said.
The CBJ spokesperson said that an arrest warrant Under Section 512 of the CrPC was also issued against the accused by the court of the law on the request of the Crime Branch.
“Today, acting on a specific input, the accused was arrested from the city outskirts,” he said, adding that the accused would be presented before the court of the law to decide the future course of action.
