NEW DELHI, Jan 11 : Stating that the feedback about Agniveers from the ground and units as positive, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande said that the integration of Agniveers is happening well.
Addressing the annual press conference here on Thursday, Gen Pande said that two batches of Agniveers have been inducted into the units. And the feedback from the ground and units has been positive.
When asked about former Army chief MM Naravane’s view about Agniveeer, the CoAS said that it would not be fair on his part to comment on his predecessor, but said that Agniveer was getting a positive response.
On recruiting women officer, Gen Pande said that women are playing good roles in all areas.
The Indian Army currently has 120 permanent women officers, some in the rank of Colonel. Many have been deployed in forward areas like Leh.
The General said that the shortage of officers in the Indian Army has been addressed. Human Resource Management has helped in increasing the recruitment of officers.
He said that a cyber security wing has also been set up. The Indian Army is creating a pool of specialist cadre and commissioning officers as linguists, now cyber experts shall be inducted.
He also said that the Indian Army is committed towards Atmanirbharta and good progress has been done in this area. (UNI)
