R&B Deptt seeks registration of FIR against construction company

REASI, Jan 12: Office of the Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), Division Mahore has sought registration of FIR against the construction company for unprecedented delay in completing the road work from Phalini to Dharmari via Banna Thilloo.
In a formal application to the SDPO Mahore, the Executive Engineer has submitted that M/s Vetestha Construction with proprietor Fayaz Ahmad Zargar of Kulgam, was allotted the work in April 2018 for construction of five kilometer road costing Rs 746.17 lacs, with a completion period of 24 months.
“But even after lapse of nearly six years, only 22 percent of the work has been completed till date which show in itself a very casual approach of the company towards the completion of this work. Number of of notices were issued to the company from time to time for the completion of this work and even twice recommendations were given to the higher offices for the termination of their contract and every time the company assured the department that the work shall be resumed and completed without any delay,” reads the communiqué.
Besides the bridge on Malni Nallah which was supposed to be constructed by the same company has not been constructed till date causing human loss on multiple occasions especially of school going children and ladies while crossing the Nallah during rains.
Listing these reasons, the Executive Engineer has sought registration of an FIR against the company under relevant provisions of the law for causing inconvenience to the public, loss to human lives and depriving road connectivity to the area prone to security related issues.
