KARGIL, Jan 12: Demanding District Status, a peaceful protest was held at Drass market led by Councillors of Drass, Chairperson Block Development Council among the senior citizens and general public here today.
Demanding the District status for Drass subdivision, the massive protest was held after Friday congregational prayers where people from different villages joined, starting the rally from Lal Chowk Drass. The protesters raised slogans holding placards demanding District Status for Drass Subdivision, which according to them was a long pending demand. The rally was taken from Lal Chowk Drass towards Court Road Drass and later it culminated near SDM Office Drass. Hundreds of people from all age groups were present in the protest.
Later the gathering moved towards the SDM office and the leaders who were leading the demonstration presented a memorandum to the Incharged Sub District Magistrate (SDM) about the District Status after which the protest was concluded.
