JAMMU, Jan 12 : Accusing the previous Governments of not paying much attention towards health sector in J&K, Union Minister in PMO with Independent Charge of Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh today said age of silos is over now and all the success stories are the result of integrated efforts.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function held here, today in connection with commemoration of 161st birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and 54th Foundation Day of Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital Ambphalla, Dr Jitendra Singh said the private sector has played a vital role in country’s development but unfortunately in J&K the private sector has not been receiving the attention.

Dr Jitendra Singh said in the changing Constitution and administrative arrangements in J&K, it is now possible to allow Corporate Sector to play its role in health sector and Government should extend whole cooperation and support to them to set up upgraded health care facilities in the UT.
Dr Jitendra Singh said present Government has taken up initiative in this regard and after lot of efforts Apollo has agreed to establish its set up in Jammu. He said “we should further incentivize such possible initiatives from private sector so that they get motivated to set up their establishments in J&K.”
Pitching for greater public-private partnership in medical science, Dr Jitendra Singh said the age of silos is over. He underlined the importance of collaboration among organizations and institutions.
The Minister exemplified that India’s recent success stories like COVID vaccine, Chandrayaan and Aroma Mission are the result of collaborative efforts.
He said all three world acclaimed success stories related to departments under his Ministry was possible because of collaboration between Government and private sector. He said the example of first COVID vaccine was made by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
He said the Aroma Mission originated from J&K was given technical support by Government and cultivation of lavender was done by farmers while marketing was done by private perfume companies, he added.
He said likewise in Space Sector in Chandrayaan and Aditya Mission, private sector has made huge investment after present Government opened space sector to private players.
He said in the Startups India has made a quantum jump after 2014 when Narendra Modi took over as Prime Minister.
Later addressing the function during the inauguration of MRI and CT Scan facilities in Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission and Charitable Hospital, Dr Jitendra Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi realised Swami Vivekanand’s “Vision India” and translated it into “ Viksit Bharat”.
Dr Jitendra Singh laid stress on capacity building of the youth so that they can realize the full strength of their talent and channelize their energies towards that end.
The Minister urged everyone to make optimal use of their strength, potential and talent in the next 25 years of Amrit Kaal so that they can contribute to realize the vision of a developed India by the year to 2047.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi brought in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. According to Swami Vivekananda, the ideal of education should be capacity building and growth of human beings.
He said, it is this ideal which influenced the NEP 2020 that focuses on bringing to the fore the inherent talent and aptitude of students. Earlier, the students were prisoners of the aspirations of their parents, now, they have attained freedom to choose and change subjects based on their aptitude. This empowerment stems from the NEP2020, Dr. Jitendra Singh added.
Enumerating the salient features of welfare schemes of the Government, the Union Minister said the Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT) has ushered in more transparency by weeding out middlemen from the system by ensuring that cash benefits reach bank accounts of beneficiaries directly. In the same way, free gas cylinders under Ujjwala Yojana are being provided to the beneficiaries without any discrimination on the basis of religion or caste.
