JAMMU, Feb 4: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Y V Sharma, President Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Advocate Baldev Singh seeking check on charging of exorbitant fare by the air companies, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today granted three weeks time to the Indian Airlines and Jet Airways for filing replies.
In the petition, problems being faced by the common masses due to exorbitant air fare has been highlighted. “The exorbitant fare is being charged by the different airlines without any capping by the authorities at the helm of affairs and without any accountability for delay”, the petitioners submitted. They prayed for issuance of directions to the respondents for submission of details regarding the rationale behind minimum and maximum air-tariff.
After hearing Senior Advocate B S Slathia with Advocates Meenakshi Salathia appearing for the PIL, Division Bench comprising Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur considered the prayer seeking time for filing of the replies by the Indian Airlines and Jet Airways. “The replies shall be filed within three weeks”, the DB added.
