Man jumps in Chenab, untraced

RAMBAN, Jan 14: A man allegedly ended his life by jumping into the waters of river Chenab at Karool area here late Sunday evening.
Police sources informed that a man travelling in a car from Jammu to Srinagar parked his vehicle bearing registration number JK01U-3157 near Jaswal Bridge, Karool alongside Jammu Srinagar National Highway, trekked down to banks of river Chenab and jumped into the water.
On getting information Police, SDRF and local volunteers reached the spot and launched a search operation to fish out the body from deep waters of Chenab.
It is presumed the man was washed away in strong water currents but the search operation continued till late in the evening to retrieve the body of the missing person.
Police identified the missing person as Ravinder Singh, son of late Mohinder Singh, resident of Srungsoo, Siligam, district Anantnag, at present Bari Brahmana, Jammu.
SHO Police Station Ramban, Inspector Neam Ul Haq said that search and rescue operation was launched to trace the missing person in river Chenab at Karool.
