2 peddlers nabbed with poppy straw

Srinagar, Jan 14: Police today arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Authorities stated that a police party, led by Incharge PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Zadoora Crossing on NHW-44, intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Mudasir Ahmad Ahangar, son of Nazir Ahmad Ahangar, a resident of Doru, and Mohd Iqbal Chopan, son of Lal Mohd Chopan, a resident of Shangas.
“Upon noticing the police party, they attempted to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. After inspection, officers were able to recover 4.2 kgs of Poppy Straw-like substance concealed in nylon bags from their possession,” the police said.
They have been arrested and shifted to the police station, where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 07/2024, citing relevant sections of the law, has been registered at Police Station Qazigund, and an investigation has been initiated.
