JAMMU, Jan 15: Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) today demanded immediate removal of encroachments from migrants land and orchards either made by the land grabbers or anti -social elements and also the restoration of the migrants land occupied by various Government agencies.
The demand was made at a press conference here, today by president, JTC/SKF Shadi Lal Pandita.
Highlighting other issues Pandita demand release of balance amount of compensation to those migrants whose houses were torched after the exodus in 1990.
He expressed his serious concern over the attitude of authorities towards the migrants putting up in Jagti Tenement and alleged the inmates of the camp are being harassed by the officials. He said that the authorities of Relief Organisation have stopped the relief of some families putting up at Jagti township without serving notices to them. Besides, relief the distribution of ration to these families has also been stopped which is a cause of concern, he added.
Pandita said the Relief Organization instead to make the living conditions of migrants easy are unnecessarily harassing them and he urged the LG administration to look into the matter.
He demanded enhancement of monthly cash assistance to Rs 25,000 per migrant family, sanction of another job package for displaced Pandit youth with 5000 class fourth posts for those migrant youth who could not continue their education.
He expressed grave concern over the rising unemployment in the community and accused both Central and UT Governments for doing nothing in this regard and demanded that those families be given preference in Government jobs who have no serving Government employee. Besides, Rs 25 lakh as compensation be given to over aged KP youth, he added.
He also demanded that the process of return and rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley be initiated now and the townships in this regard be established on three district headquarters. Besides, Pandita demanded two Parliamentary and five Assembly seats for the community. Inder Ji Labroo, Sameer Koul, Kashi Nath Bhat, Ravinder Koul, Anil Dhar, Ramit Raina and others were also present in the press conference.
