SRINAGAR, Feb 5: As a part of measures being taken by Government for providing additional power supply through solar lights to various Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of the State, Minister of State for Technical Education (Independent charge), Power, Information and RDD, Vikar Rasool Wani today inaugurated 66.24 KW capacity Solar Power Plant at ITI Pattan and 80 KW capacity plant at ITI, Baramulla. The plants have been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.62 crore at Pattan and Rs 2.crore at ITI Baramulla respectively
Interacting with the staff and students, Mr. Vikar said that the objective of connecting ITIs with solar energy is aimed at facilitating student community with additional facility of power supply so that the studies are not hampered and the students get regular power supply for undergoing technical education.
The Minister said that Government is committed to make maximum use of this technology and various public institutions are being provided this facility. He said that the solar power technology will go long way in overcoming power crises in the State.
The Minister was accompanied by Director Technical Education, Kashmir, Jai Pal Singh, Principals of ITIs, representative of Tata Power Solar System and other concerned officers.
Later, the Minister presided over an officers meeting at Baramulla and took stock of essentials available in the district. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Chief Engineer PDD and other district officers.
