KATHUA, Jan 18: A deputation of women labourers of Chenab Textiles Mills Kathua led by BJP leader, Prem Nath Dogra and Union leader, Suresh Kumar called on DC Kathua, Rakesh Minhas and informed him that they can’t attend night shift in the mills.
The deputation informed DC that the CTM management force the women to work in the mills in night shift which is not acceptable. They said that there is not any culture of women working in night shifts in past in the mill. Now the contractor of labourers force them to work in night shift, otherwise they will be kicked out of job.
The women labourers Harisha of Bihar said that a woman can work in morning and evening shift as they are working regularly. Now they are forced to attend night duty, which is not possible for women to work after leaving their children, young girls alone in the house under risk.
They appealed the Deputy Commissioner Kathua to intervene into the matter and relax the women from night shift duty after conversation with management.
Prem Nath Dogra said that it is very unfortunate that the mills management is creating nuisance among the poor women labourer and forcing them to work in night shift instead to give them relaxation or the safety and security for which Government has already framed the law for working women.
