JAMMU, Jan 20: Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha (KKHMS) has ‘expressed resentment and serious concern over non –issuance of (New Electoral Photo Identity Card) EPIC /Voter Identity Card to Kashmiri migrants.
The Maha Sabha which held a meeting here, today under the leadership of Ramesh Chander Mahajan, said that during the initiative of distributing of EPIC or voter cards at various camps organized by Relief and Rehabilitation Organisation Migrant Jammu, in collaboration with the J&K Election Department, approximately 98402, Kashmiri migrant voters from all over the India have submitted forms of Aadhaar -Voter ID linkage for authentication /inclusion /correction with image upload to enroll in the electoral rolls through either an online portal or offline along with relevant documents.
Mahajan said however, in many cases the authorities have still failed to update electoral rolls and are delaying the linkage of Adhaar and mobile number on the website of Election Department. Moreover , many voters have received same EPIC continuously in double and triple and the majority of migrants have been waiting for the issuance of new EPIC for a long time.
Mahajan said in some cases of electoral rolls , the name of voters are still missing i.e Ward/ Panchayat Halqa /block / village/ Mohallas and house number etc are mismatched. Furthermore, parentage/surname /spouse is wrongly written in place of EPIC number. The migrant voters strength has been reduced deliberately in particular areas and in some cases no corrections of parentage / spelling / mistakes / no inclusion and approximately 34960 non-image/photo upload eligible voters have been made in the electoral rolls of migrants / particular in Kashmiri Hindus voter lists, he added.
