JAMMU, Jan 21: One person was arrested with a sharp-edged weapon in Akhnoor area here today.
A police spokesperson said that a party of Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Akhnoor Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Lal Sharma established a naka at Punnu Chowk, Akhnoor.
During naka checking, he said, an Innova car (PB06V-5161) coming from Akhnoor side towards Jourian, was signalled to stop but the driver tried to escape from the spot on seeing the police.
“He was overpowered by the alert jawans and on search of his vehicle, a sharp-edged weapon (Toka), concealed beneath driver seat was recovered,” he said.
Accordingly, the accused driver, Sunil Sharma of Gurha Brahmana, was arrested and booked in case FIR number 17/2024 Under Section 4/25 of the Arms Act registered at Akhnoor Police Station and further investigation taken up.
