Schools to remain close till Jan 27

JAMMU, Jan 21: In view of prevailing extreme cold conditions, all the schools in Summer Zone of Jammu Division shall remain close from January 22 to 27, 2024.
However, the students practicing for participation in the Republic Day celebration and the school staff shall continue to come for the duty, except tomorrow.
According to an order, issued by the Directorate of School Education Jammu, all the schools upto 12th class functioning in summer Zone of Jammu division shall observe vacation with effect from 22nd of January to 27th of January, 2024.
“However, students practicing for participation in the Republic Day celebration shall continue to come for the rehearsal and the Head of Institutions shall ensure that all the arrangements for the Republic Day function are in place.
Even as there is no clarity in the order over attendance of teachers during the vacation, it is assumed that they will continue to attend their duties as students practicing for participation in the Republic Day shall come to the schools.
However, they remained confused over attending duties tomorrow as the J&K Government has announced half day holiday (till 2.30 pm) on January 22. Since the schools are functioning till 3 pm, the teachers were purportedly being directed by their respective heads of the institution to report for duty at 2.30 pm even for half an hour.
As the Excelsior brought the matter into the notice of Secretary School Education Piyush Singla, he clarified that tomorrow will be off and the teachers are required to attend their duties from January 23.
