Truck driver beaten to pulp; video goes viral, one held

JAMMU, Jan 22: In a shocking incident at Narwal Transport Yard number 5, a truck driver was mercilessly beaten by the transporters, with a video of the assault going viral.
Taking cognizance of the matter, police have arrested one Nazaratullah of Rajal, Nowshera, at present Bathindi, Jammu-a transporter accused in plotting the assault-while a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the other accused identified as Ashu, who remains at large.
A police spokesperson said that the victim driver, Mohammad Reyaz of Solki, Kalakote, Rajouri, had reportedly borrowed Rs 50,000 from Nazaratullah around five years ago and failed to repay the debt.
On this, he said, one Ashu, who works for Nazaratullah, attacked Mohammad Reyaz with belts and kicks two days back at Narwal Transport Yard number 5, leaving the latter battered.
Following the circulation of the disturbing video, an FIR (First Information Report) has been registered Under Sections 343 and 323 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) at Police Station Bahu Fort.
“While Nazaratullah is in custody, efforts are underway to swiftly apprehend Ashu,” said a police officer.
He assured, “We’ve constituted teams to arrest the absconding employee. Very soon, he will be behind bars.”
