JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Jan 23: While Jammu’s temperature remained 8 degrees Celsius below normal during the day today, there seems to be no respite from the intense cold wave in Kashmir with extreme subzero temperatures across the region, whereas, the day temperature stayed above normal.
Dense fog and poor visibility continued to hit train and air services as five flights and four trains were cancelled on Tuesday in Jammu.
Srinagar city recorded a minimum temperature of minus 5.0 degrees Celsius today, marginally up from the previous night’s minus 5.3 degrees. Pahalgam recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius, Qazigund town a low of minus 4.8 degrees and the ski resort of Gulmarg reported a low of minus 4.5 degrees.
Srinagar recorded a maximum of 12. 0 degree Celsius temperature today which was 5.1 degree Celsius above normal, however, Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 10.7 degrees C which was 8.1 degrees below normal (18.8 deg C), for this day of the season. On Monday, the day temperature of the winter capital was 9 degrees below normal.
Jammu was again colder than Srinagar today during the day, besides Batote, Banihal and Bhaderwah as the day temperature of these towns remained much higher than that of Jammu.

Qazigund recorded a maximum of 12. 0 degree Celsius which is 5.2 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year, Pahalgam maximum of 10.7 degree Celsius which is 6.2 degree Celsius above normal, Kupwara 12. 3 degree Celsius, Kokernag recorded a maximum of 11.5 degree Celsius while, Gulmarg recorded a maximum of 6.0 degree Celsius which is 5.6 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.

The weather office, has forecast the possibility of light snowfall at places in the Valley from Thursday to January 31.
Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 5 degrees C, Katra town a minimum temperature of 4.1 deg C, Bhaderwah town a minimum temperature of -0.4 degrees C, Batote a night temperature of 1.6 deg C while Banihal town a night temperature of -1.8 deg C on Tuesday.
The winter capital Jammu continued to be under the grip of severe cold wave and foggy weather conditions. Due to fog, five flights including two IndiGo, two Air India and one SpiceJet were cancelled today. Four flights were delayed during morning hours due to fog and poor visibility. They included, three IndiGo and one SpiceJet, an official at Jammu Airport said.
A Northern Railways spokesman said that four trains were cancelled today at Jammu Station due to fog in the Northern region. They include, Jhelum Express (11077/78), Andaman Exp, Kalka-SVDK Exp and MCTM-INDB Exp (22941).
He further disclosed that seven trains arrived late at Jammu station than their scheduled time due to fog and poor visibility. He said Malwa Express arrived late by 10 hours, Tata Muri Exp by 6 hours, Puja Express three hours, while Shalimar, Uttar Samparak Kranti, Sealdah and Humsafar were late by one hour at Jammu station on Tuesday.
