JAMMU, Jan 24: A workshop on ‘Research in the Academic Sector’ organised by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu was held here today.
The workshop was presided by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, and Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu who facilitated discussions that identified crucial global challenges and emphasized collaborative research solutions.
The workshop brought together a distinguished delegation led by renowned academicians ranging from Prof. Amrik Sohal, Monash University, Australia, Professor Julie Davies, University College London, UK, and Prof. Chris Hicks, Newcastle University, UK.
The event commenced with a warm welcome and introduction of the delegates by Dr. Nitin Upadhyay, Chairperson, IT, IIM Jammu.
In the inaugural address, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu underscored the limitless scope of research and emphasized the value of collaborative endeavours.
He highlighted the unparalleled advantages of on-campus learning, surpassing the limitations of remote settings and rallied participants to collectively explore avenues for advancing this partnership in the best interests of the academic community.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, enthusiastically shared insights on the interdisciplinary discussions and research during the workshop.
Prof. Amrik Sohal, Monash University, Australia, reiterated the imperative of fortifying collaborations between Monash University and IIM Jammu across various domains, including research programs, seminars, and teaching initiatives.
He drew insightful parallels with global crises such as COVID-19 and Climate Change, highlighting the transformative impact that collaborative efforts can have in addressing pressing challenges and finding sustainable solutions.
Professor Julie Davies, University College London, UK, delivered an insightful address underscoring the critical need for closer collaboration in alignment with the India-UK 2030 roadmap.
Drawing parallels from successful collaborations, she shared notable advancements in the field of Medical Sciences witnessed in Saudi Arabia.
Prof. Chris Hicks, Newcastle University, UK, offered a comprehensive overview of his pivotal role, shedding light on his dedication to enhancing quality, efficiency, and resource optimization.
He emphasized the transformative power of collaboration across diverse industry domains, illustrating the continuous efforts made in the public interest.
Participants engaged in group activities, guided by senior faculty mentors, providing a hands-on experience in tackling Academic research issues.
