‘All compassionate jobs will be cleared soon’
*Tawi Riverfront to be a reality shortly

JAMMU, Jan 25: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today said with the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir which was once known as terrorism hotspot has been changed into tourism hotspot with 2.11 crore tourists visiting the UT last year.
“Jammu and Kashmir has been marching ahead in development. December 31 celebrations at Lal Chowk in Srinagar till late in the night show that era of darkness is over. Last year witnessed highest tourist footfall in Jammu and Kashmir since independence,’’ Sinha said while addressing the newly recruited JKAS officers and compassionate appointment beneficiaries and launch of e-buses in a function here which was virtually addressed by Home Minister Amit Shah.
He said decades old system of discrimination was ended by the Prime Minister four and half years back and Jammu and Kashmir is now witnessing inclusive development.
Sinha announced that Jammu City’s major project—the Tawi Riverfront will also be a reality very soon.
Referring to recruitments in various Government departments, the Lieutenant Governor mentioned the appointments made by the SSB, PSC etc . He said 1885compassionate appointment orders were given today while the rest will also be cleared shortly.
“All appointments are now being made on merit in complete transparent manner. Earlier, the jobs were given on slips and favouritism,’’ the Lieutenant Governor said.
Sinha said yesterday was a historic date in Jammu and Kashmir when 94,680 youth were given Rs 1384 crore worth amount for launching their ventures as entrepreneurs and self employment opportunities.
Sinha expressed gratitude to Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah for giving highest priority to overall progress of J&K UT.
He said the 100 e-Buses dedicated to the people of the UT today will transform smart mobility in Jammu city and connected areas, and improve quality of life for the citizens.
“It is our commitment to wipe tear from every eye and ensure happy and successful life for every family,” he said.
On the occasion, the Lt Governor highlighted the efforts of the UT administration towards socio-economic empowerment of every section of the society, especially the youth of Jammu Kashmir.
“Merit based and transparent recruitment has enabled the talented youth of J&K to shape their own destiny. After August 2019, 31,830 appointments were made and recruitments for 12,264 posts are under process,” Sinha added.
“Under the guidance of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, we are making earnest efforts to realise the potential and dreams of the people of J&K,” he added.
