JAMMU, Feb 8: An interdisciplinary Refresher Course in Environmental Studies of three-week duration began today by Academic Staff College, University of Jammu in the Department of Environmental Sciences, JU.
Around forty-five teachers from universities and colleges from J&K and outside State are attending the course.
Prof Kulwant Kour, Dean, Research Studies, JU, was the chief guest of the inaugural function. She stressed upon the need of such refresher courses in updating the knowledge of the teachers and to work with a holistic approach. She added that environment is the concern of every body and this course in Environmental Studies will enable the teachers to disseminate the knowledge among their students when they go back to their respective institutes.
Prof Rajender Gupta, Director Academic Staff College, JU, also spoke on the occasion and emphasized that such courses are necessary for the career advancement as well as up-gradation of knowledge of the teachers.
Dr Sanjay Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Sciences and Course Coordinator, presented welcome address and formal vote of thanks.
