RAJOURI, Feb 8: The people from Manjakote town held strong protest demonstration and blocked Jammu-Poonch road for about four hours in support of former MoS Health, Shabir Ahmed Khan, booked by Srinagar Police for alleged sexual exploitation of a lady doctor.
A large number of Congress activists and people from the home town of Shabir Khan, came out on Jammu-Poonch highway at around 10 am and started protest demonstration. They were raising slogans, Shabir Khan ‘Bekasur Hai’. The people alleged that Shabir Khan fell victim to political conspiracy. Several Panchayat members besides Congress activists joined protest. The slogans against Chief Minister and NC were also aired by the protestors.
With the blockade, the movement of traffic came to halt on the busy highway. A large number of commuters were stranded for hours together due to blockade. Local SHO and a few senior officials from district administration arrived there. Later, with their intervention, the highway was cleared.
Similar protest demonstration was held in support of Shabir Khan at Thannamandi today. The people blocked road and held protest demonstration against Police and NC leadership for making Shabir Khan scape-goat. They claimed that Shabir Khan was innocent and he has fallen victim to some deep- rooted conspiracy on the behest of National Conference. They alleged that several Congress ministers were being targeted one by one and made ‘sacrificial goats’ by way of political conspiracy by NC as not even single NC Minister has been ever targeted even for some hidden scandals and misdeeds. After staging protest for about an hour, the people dispersed.
