JAMMU, Feb 8: In addition to the awful condition of the drains, roads, growing congestion and stoppage of the developmental works, a number of other problems facing the people, would be vigorously raised in the Budget Session commencing here from February 10.
This was stated by the former Union Minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta while interacting with the activists of his Jammu West Assembly Constituency. He said that a strange chaotic situation has been created and even the repair works have come to a halt, not to say of any more developmental activities. The reason is being put forth the paucity of funds.
Prof Gupta observed that one could not understand that on one hand the basic problems like that of sanitation, repair of roads, drains etc. are not being carried on the ground of funding, large number of new administrative units have been approved for which hundreds of crores are required to create the infrastructure.
Referring to number of other problems, Prof Gupta said that many sections of the society are on the roads to agitate their demands. They also include the labourers, workers and others who are not being paid their wages, as also Pakistani Refugees, migrants from Pak held areas and the internally displaced people.
He ridiculed the parroting by the ruling leaders claiming equal treatment to all regions and different sections of the society, Prof Gupta said that in this regard the fresh delimitation of Assembly Constituencies is a must as Jammu region has been deprived of its due.
Prof Gupta said questions, resolutions and even private bills have been submitted to raise all these issues to make the Government leaders answerable.
