KATHUA, Jan 29: District Mineral Officer Kathua, Rajinder Singh, today seized four vehicles, one among them excavator, for mining illegally in the District.
A statement said that sleuths of Geology and Mining Department led by DMO Kathua conducted raids at Jarai and Lakhanpur areas of the District.
During raids, he said, the quantity of raw material lifted by the vehicles was measured by the officials and accordingly seizure memos were issued to the violators as per the extant rules.
While one of the seized vehicles has been handed over to the Police Post Lakhanpur the others were handed over to the incharge Police Post Bhagtali for realisation of penalty from them through Joint Director Office Jammu.
The DMO Jammu stated that a total of two excavators and 11 vehicles have been seized within last two days by the teams of Geology and Mining Department.
