DB grants 3 weeks time for filing requisite affidavit in PIL on traffic mgmt

JAMMU, Jan 30: In a Public Interest Litigation seeking proper management of traffic, a Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court comprising Chief Justice N Kotiswar Singh and Justice M A Chowdhary has granted three weeks’ time to S S Nanda, Senior AAG for filing requisite affidavit in terms of order dated 08.11.2023.
On November 8, 2023, Division Bench, after going through the affidavit filed by respondent observed, “the main respondent is in a better position to apprise this court about the various steps taken, these details are lacking, and, there is reference to purchase of certain equipments under Road Safety Measures during the financial year 2018-19”.
“Since we are on the verge of the completion of year 2023, we would like to have an additional affidavit from Commissioner/Secretary, Transport Department as to the various steps taken and also purchase and use of the equipments to deal with the traffic accidents and other violations which lead to fatal accident”, the DB had mentioned on November 8, 2023.
