JAMMU, Feb 1: With an aim to motivate students to participate in experiential education opportunities, a practice session on the basic understanding and recent updates regarding the use of Manupatra, an online legal database, was organized for third and fifth semester students in The Law School, University of Jammu.
Under the guidance of Prof Manju Jamwal, Director of The Law School, the workshop was successfully handled by Sanjay Sharma, Manager Sales and Support for Manupatra, and assisted by Dr Sudesh K Tripathi and Dr Nitan Sharma.
Besides personally helping the students retrieve cases, statutes, and other documents from Manupatra’s vast online library, Sanjay Sharma also helped them access notifications and circulars of various Central Ministries and online free courses for faculty members and students.
While sharing information about the session, Dr Seema Rohmetra, Associate Professor, The Law School, expressed that access to justice is a fundamental component of the Sustainable Development Goals. “Whether it’s in the context of gender equality, reducing inequalities, labor rights, or environmental protection, access to justice serves as a key driver in realizing these ambitious goals. Therefore, bolstering institutional capabilities and legal frameworks through the provision of technical support-such as by subscribing to an online legal database and disseminating its knowledge to pertinent stakeholders-will undoubtedly mark a significant advancement toward ensuring that justice is assured and accessible,” she said.
Others who participated in the session, include Dr Rajneesh Khajuria and Dr Vandita Sharma.
