DGFT authorises KCC&I to issue Certificate of Origin to J&K exporters

Srinagar, Feb 1: The Director General Foreign Trade (DGFT) has authorised the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) for issuing “Certificate of Origin” to the exporters of Jammu and Kashmir.
An order issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Government of India yesterday authorised four trade bodies of the country to issue the “Certificate of Origin” in their respective regions to the exporters.
The KCC&I, Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association, Porbandar Chamber of Commerce & Industries and Eastern UP Chamber of Commerce & Industries were earlier last year de-listed by the DGFT (vide Public Notice no. 31/2023 dated 20-09-2023) for not complying to the repeated instructions of the DGFT for onboarding of the common Digital Platform for issuance of non-preferential Certificate of Origin.
The DGFT issued the Public Notice Enlistment vide No.38/2023 yesterday for authorisation of these four trade bodies to issue the Certificate of Origin to the exporters.
The KCCI in a statement issued here expressed its gratitude to Director General of Foreign Trade Santosh Kumar Sarangi for reconsidering its earlier position under which the KCC&I was delisted.
“It took KCC&I four months of strenuous efforts to get the earlier decision of DGFT reviewed after fulfilling all the requirements to ON-BOARD on e-COO on the Common Digital Platform under Trade Notice No: 42/2020-21 dated: 19-02-2021,” statement issued by the KCC&I said.
It may be mentioned here that the Government of India last month ordered an inquiry into the activities of the KCC&I since 2010 and the authorisation by the DGFT to the trade body to issue Certificate of Origin to J&K exporters is a morale booster for them.
