Govt keeping OBCs in illusion: AIBCU

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Feb 2: In view of the Union Cabinet approval over the OBCs reservation in Panchayats, ULBs, BDCs and DDCs, AIBCU reacted over this move and stated that decision over reservation quota left over on a commission can be a big conspiracy against OBCs of J&K.
A spokesman of the All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) said when apex court of the country has already granted 27% quota for OBCs then what would be the decision of this commission for which Govt has made an allusion to keep the OBCs in illusion.
Govt has already passed an Amendment Bill of 2023 in Reservation Act of 2004 of JK and in this regard Govt too has released the gazette dated 26.12.2023 but that gazette too does not speak of reservation quota for OBCs.
Both the matters viz change in nomenclature from “OSC” to ” OBC” and now the approval of JK OBC Reservations in Panchayats, ULBs, BDCs and DDCs, were discussed threadbare in the executive meet of the Union under the chairmanship of its president Abdul Majid Malik and it was concluded that there was need of nomenclature change in Jammu and Kashmir, a gateway for OBC reservation which the Govt has already got passed in both the houses and for which gazette too has been released, the question of decision of reservation % age by a Commission does not arise in view of the apex court’s judgement of 1992 on Mandal report which has already granted and settled quota @ 27% for OBCs.
