JAMMU, Feb 2: A Station House Officer (SHO) was attached to District Police Line (DPL) and two cops were placed under suspension after one person died in custody at Gandhi Nagar Police Station.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night when one Sahil Saini of Nagri, Kathua, who was arrested in case FIR number 20/2024 under sections 457/380 of the IPC on Tuesday, fell unconscious under mysterious circumstances in the lock up of Gandhi Nagar Police Station.
He was immediately taken to Gandhi Nagar Hospital where doctors declared him as dead on arrival. His post-mortem was conducted at Government Medical College Jammu on Thursday by a Board of Doctors as a magisterial inquiry was ordered into the circumstances leading to his mysterious death within the police lockup.
Accordingly, in order to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter, SHO Gandhi Nagar Police Station was attached and two other police officials were placed under suspension, today.
“District Police Jammu understand the public’s concern and emphasize its commitment to upholding the highest standards of accountability and transparency in law enforcement operations,” said a statement issued by the Police.
