JAMMU, Feb 2: A shepherd was killed in a lightning strike at Nagrota area of the District, police said today.
Mohammad Saleem Kandal son of Mohammad Sadiq of Ganai Gund, Anantnag at present Jagti was grazing his sheep on Thursday when he was struck by lightning around 5.30 PM at Jagti area, they said.
Police said he was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him as dead on arrival.
Police in Nagrota have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law and started further investigation into the matter.
