2 bovine smugglers arrested in Samba

SAMBA, Feb 4: Police in this district claimed to have arrested 2 bovine smugglers besides rescuing 12 animals they had crammed in a cruel manner into three different vehicles.
A police spokesperson said that a party of Police Station Ghagwal led by SHO Ghagwal intercepted an auto load carrier at Tapyal for checking.
On search of the vehicle, he said, two bovines were recovered from the vehicle, which were being transported without any permission.
Accordingly, the bovine smugglers identified as Manjit Siingh of Simbal Morh, Tehsil RS Pura and Veer Lal of Mokhey, Tehsil Suchetgarh, District Jammu, were arrested and booked in case FIR number 09/2024 Under Sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act registered at Police Station Ghagwal.
Another party of Police Post Supwal led by incharge Police Post Supwal, while on vehicle checking at Supwal, signalled a Mahindra load carrier for checking but the driver instead tried to accelerate the speed of the vehicle to escape the naka point.
At Barian, the driver left the vehicle abandoned and escaped, taking advantage of the darkness. On search of the vehicle, 5 animals were found laden inside it in a cruel manner.
Police have taken cognisance of the illegal transportation of the bovines and registered a case FIR number 35/2024 Under Section 279, 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act, 3 PDPP Act, 184 Motor Vehicle Act at Police Station Samba and started further investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, a party of Police Post Goran headed by incharge Police Post Goran, while on naka duty near Sumb, rescued 5 animals from a Mahindra load carrier, which were being transported illegally.
A case FIR number 34/2024 Under Sections 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act in this connection has been registered at Police Station Samba and further investigation started.
