10 yrs rigorous imprisonment awarded in murder case

JAMMU, Feb 10: 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu, Y P Bourney today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 25000 to Harvinder Singh, son of Inderjit Singh of Bhour Camp, who killed one Onkar Singh over a land dispute on July 17, 2006.
After hearing APP Harpal Singh for the State whereas Advocate Rakesh Sharma for the accused, 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu, Y P Bourney observed, “the offence was admittedly no premeditated and preplanned but occurrence at the heat of moment due to the grave and sudden provocation for which deceased himself was to be blamed since he wanted to prepare dinner at convict’s place when their relations were already in trouble”.
“However the manner in which the offence has been committed clearly proves that he intended to commit culpable homicide as he inflicted axe-blows repeatedly over vital part of body”, the court further observed and awarded 10 years RI and fine of Rs 25000 to the accused.
