Bar suspends work in courts

JAMMU, Feb 10: The work in High Court and District Courts remained affected due to non-appearance of advocates in protest against robbery committed at gun point in the house of Senior Advocate SS Lehar.
The J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu strongly condemned the act of the criminals and expressed grave concern on the incident. It called upon the Police to expedite the investigation and apprehend the accused.
“The security agencies should ensure safety and security of S S Lehar and his family by providing proper security cover”, the Bar demanded.
Meanwhile, Bar Association called upon the authorities that Shabir Ahmad Khan who had been a member of the Association and was ex-MoS Health, be treated fairly and all the allegations against him be enquired without any prejudice and impartiality besides without pressure from any group.
“The Association stands for the rights of the women but keeping in view the allegations, the complaint should be investigated fairly and impartially by the authorities concerned”, a spokesman of the Bar said, adding “let the law take its own course and Shabir Ahmed Khan should not be victimized at the instance of any pressure group”.
