LEH, Feb 10: The people of village Sumoor and its adjoining villages met Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Simrandeep Singh and highlighted their demands.
The residents of villages Sumoor, Kyagar, Chamshen, Pinchimic and Yulkam villages of Nubra Sub Division expressed their deep anguish for not granting Sub Divisional Status and CD Block to Sumoor region in recently created new administrative units approved by State Cabinet.
They demanded immediate consideration of grant of Sub Divisional status to Sumoor area of Nubra, retention of revenue records of Chamshen-Youlkam villages with Sumoor Tehsil, as the recently created Niabad at Charasa is too far on the other side of Siachen river which is without a proper bridge and the villagers of Chamshen-Youlkam have to travel a distance of 125 kilometers for day to day revenue works at Charasa and immediate settling up of Tehsil Office Sumoor with proper staffing.
