JAMMU, Feb 5: BR Sharma, former Chief Secretary, was re-elected as the chairman of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), J&K Regional Branch for the period 2024-26.
This announcement came during the 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on February 4, 2024.
Notably, Dr Ashok Bhan, Former DGP, J&K Police, will serve as the monitoring Patron for the branch.
The AGM also witnessed the election of new office bearers and the nomination of the Executive Committee for the 2024-2026 term.
The elected office bearers include JBS Johar as Vice Chairman (Jammu), Dr GN Qasba as Vice Chairman (Kashmir), KB Jandial as Vice Chairman (Central), Prof Alka Sharma as Honorary Secretary, and Vikrant Kuthiala as Honorary Treasurer.
Additionally, Dr Anil Gupta and G M Andrabi were elected as Joint Secretaries for Jammu and Kashmir respectively. The Director Seminars is M M Gupta, while Manoj Kumar Pandith and Prof Nasir Iqbal will serve as Joint Directors Seminars for Jammu and Kashmir.
The 15-member Executive Committee features prominent individuals like Kuldeep Khoda, AM Watali, Dr C M Seth, Prof Rekha Choudhary, Karan Singh, Prof Mehraj-ud-Din, Prem Gupta, Narinder Khajuria, Dr Komal Nagar, Ansuya Jamwal, Suresh Kumar Gupta, Bashir Ahmad Shah, Dr Bharat Bhushan, Mohammad Yaseen Kichloo, and Mubashir Amin Khan.
BR Sharma, in his address, commended the outgoing team and pledged efforts to strengthen the branch through region-wide programs, emphasizing that the IIPA’s existence is rooted in societal and governmental benefits.
Dr Ashok Bhan congratulated the branch on being adjudged the 1st best branch in the country, highlighting the consolidation phase.
He urged the branch to align with IIPA’s vision, excel in training programs and research initiatives, and enhance credibility as the golden jubilee approaches in the next 5 years.
During the AGM, Prof Alka Sharma presented the annual report, and Vikrant Kuthiala outlined the statement of accounts for the last financial year.
