Samba police arrests bovine smuggler, rescues 8 animals

SAMBA, Feb 5: Continuing its drive against the bovine smuggling, Samba police has foiled two separate bovine smuggling attempts, arrested a bovine smuggler, rescued eight bovines and seized two vehicles in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal and PS, Samba.
Police said a team of Police Station Ghagwal headed by SHO, PS Ghagwal during vehicle checking at Naka NHW Tapyal, signaled a vehicle TATA-407 bearing registration Number, JK02DA-3918 coming from Kathua side to stop for checking. But the driver instead of stopping the vehicle accelerated the speed and fled away from the naka point. The alert police naka party successfully chased the vehicle and intercepted it at Ghagwal Chowk.
During checking of the vehicle, six bovines were found laden inside it which were being transported illegally.
The bovine smugglers identified as Farman Ali, son of Mohammad Rashid of Rakh Barotian, Vijaypur has been arrested and a case FIR No.10/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station, Ghagwal. Further investigation is going on, police said.
Police said another team of Police Post (PP), Rakh Amb Tali headed by Incharge PP during surprise naka check point established near Khanwal, intercepted a vehicle Scorpio Car bearing Registration Number JK02X-2762 in which two bovines were found loaded in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. However, the driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot.
A case FIR No.36/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
