JAMMU, Feb 6: The alumni of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Jammu, organised an alumni meet titled ‘Jammu Jamghat’ in its new campus at Bantalab, Jammu.
This was the first time when several former students of the IIMC Jammu met on one platform and shared their experiences with current students and faculties. The theme of the alumni meet was based on ‘Rewind, Relieve and Reconnect.’
The meet began with a welcome song by Ratan Priya, student of Journalism (Hindi) while Abhinav Kumar Srivastava conducted proceeding of the program.
On this occasion, Prof Anil Kumar Saumitra, Regional Director IIMC Jammu, shared his thoughts among students He said that the culture of IIMC is very different from other media institutions and therefore, the alumni of the institutions achieved leading positions in industry.
Abhishek Khajuria, AIO, DIPR, Jammu and Alumni of IIMC Jammu, shared his student life experiences and the basics of journalism to the current batch students.
Prof Rakesh Goswami, former Regional Director of IIMC Jammu along with Prof K G Suresh, former Director General IIMC and Vice-Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, shared their experiences of IIMC Jammu and views through video message and said that this was a very proud moment for them that IIMC became Deemed to be University.
Harshit Seth, alumni of IIMC, Jammu presented cloth bags to all the students and faculties. Harry Walia also talked about her experience and current scenario of the media. Rajeev Singh also shared his views online. Adiya Singh, Rohan Deva, Gaurav Rawat, Akash Rathod, Lucky Kumar, alumni of IIMC Jammu, also shared their experiences of student life on the campus.
Dr Dilip Kumar, Course Coordinator, Journalism (English); Dr Vinit Kumar Jha Utpal, Course Coordinator, Digital Media; Sanjeet Khajuria, former faculty; Dinesh Manhotra, General Secretary, Press Club of Jammu; Sant Kumar Sharma, former Academic Advisor, IIMC Jammu; Dr Ravia Gupta, Lecturer, University of Jammu and former faculty IIMC Jammu; Dr Anshula Gurg, Assistant Professor; Yasir Arfat, Assistant Professor; Vishv, former faculty were also present on this occasion and shared their views and experiences.
