JAMMU, Feb 6: Up in arms against the Central Government’s move of granting Scheduled Tribe status to Pahari speaking people, Gujjar-Bakerwal students today held a strong protest demonstration at Jammu University Campus.
Shouting slogans, the protesting students moved towards the university main gate for marching to BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, but were stopped by Police force.
Police closed the university gate and did not allow the protesting Gujjar-Bakerwal students to take out march. The high-voltage drama continued for around an hour during which the students kept shouting slogans against the Government.
The students also alleged that the Gujjar-Bakerwal leaders, who were not opposing the Government move of granting ST status to the Paharis, were traitor of the community.
They also raised slogans against the Police administration for not allowing them to take out march and reach BJP office for holding protest demonstration there.
