Construction of Amarnath Base Camp failed to move ahead: Sena

JAMMU, Feb 6: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit chief, Manish Sahni strongly condemned the indifferent attitude of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board towards the construction work of Shri Amarnath Base Camp at Sidhra and demanded taking forward the construction work.
In a press conference here today Sahni said that construction of the base camp for the pilgrims coming for Shri Amarnath Yatra in Jammu has not moved beyond the foundation stone in the last 27 months.
“On November 2021, the foundation stone was laid by J&K Lieutenant Governor and once again on June 6, 2023 by the Union Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri and LG Manoj Sinha with full rituals,” he maintained adding: “Financial allocation of Rs. 51 crore was provided by ONGC and the base camp was to accommodate 30,000 pilgrims wherein facilities like emergency medical care, disaster management centre, 54 rooms and 18 dormitories, kitchen and a restaurant along with passenger accommodation was announced for the complex.”
He appealed to the chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and J&K LG to start the construction work with immediate effect.
Shiv Sena women wing president, Meenakshi Chhibber; general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; vice president, Sanjeev Kohli and Raj Singh were also present in the press conference.
