457 industrial units are sick in J&K: Govt

JAMMU : The Government today said there are 457 industrial sick units in the State.
In a written reply to the question asked by MLA Chaman Lal Gupta seeking detail on region-wise number of industrial units in the State prior to eruption of militancy and as of now, Minister In-charge Industries and Commerce said, “there were 3518 industrial units in the State prior to eruption of militancy since from 1988.”
He, further said, there are 9,663 industrial units in Kashmir division and 11850 in Jammu Division. On number of sick units, the Government replied that 368 units have become sick in Kashmir division and 89 in Jammu.
“In order to identify the industrial units of the State, which have become sick due to onset of militancy in the State, the Government constituted a State-level revival committee.”
Pursuant to various decisions taken by the Committee, 368 units were identified in Kashmir Division out of which 59 units have been sanctioned soft loan under rehabilitation package, while in Jammu division, out of 89 sick units, eight were approved for soft loan, he added. (AGENCIES)
