Light snowfall in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 11:  Light snowfall was recorded in parts of Kashmir valley today, partially disrupting the traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Light snowfall was recorded in Srinagar and hills of Kashmir valley with Jawahar Tunnel receiving 2 inches of snowfall and Patnitop around one inch, however, sun came out in the afternoon giving relief to the people from intense cold.
Srinagar recorded a low of 0.4 degree Celsius and a maximum of 9.1 degree Celsius. Leh recorded a low of minus 11.8 degree Celsius and maximum of minus 2.0 degree Celsius and minimum temperature in Kargil was recorded at minus 11.8 degree Celsius and maximum of minus 2.3 degree Celsius.
A Meteorological Department official said that weather will be dry and there is no rain or snow forecast for next 24 hours.
The Inspector General of Police Traffic, Muneer Ahmad Khan, told Excelsior that light snowfall at Jawahar Tunnel and Patnitop affected flow of traffic in the morning due to slippery road condition. He said that 3500 vehicles crossed from Kashmir valley into Jammu today.
