He was speaking to the media on the sidelines of a joining ceremony during which several new members, including a former Hurriyat activist, joined the party.
Altaf Bukhari addressed the media, stating that the doors of his party are open to every individual in J&K who believes in the progress and betterment of the region under the Indian Constitution.
“The Apni Party welcomes those who believe in the Constitution of India and consider J&K an integral part of India. We don’t differentiate based on past affiliations; this party does not belong to any particular family,” he emphasized.
The new entrants include Zaffar Habib Dar from Zainakote, formerly associated with a Hurriyat faction, and Arshad Hussain Shah, a Senior Advocate from Charar-i-Sharief, previously affiliated with the National Conference.
Bukhari credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the positive changes in J&K, stating that their efforts have instilled confidence among the people regarding their welfare under the Constitution.
Former Hurriyat activist Zaffar Habib Dar expressed his belief in politics as a means to work for the welfare of people, especially the poor.
“Politics provides the platform to serve people; Kashmir faces numerous challenges, and I aim to contribute to its improvement. JKAP embodies this vision, and I am eager to be part of the change,” he remarked.
Bukhari also reacted to the post-poll uncertainty in Pakistan, stating that he has nothing to do with what happens in the neighboring country and is much concerned about flourishing democracy in India.
“India is my country, and I am concerned about how democracy can flourish here. I have nothing to do with the neighboring country. How things are going on there, that is not my job. It is India who can take a call on the situation whenever required,” Bukhari said.
He said Apni Party has been formed with the aim of bringing people out of the quagmire of uncertainty, and efforts in this regard are ongoing to ease out the sufferings of people.
“I am happy to see people joining the Apni Party with each passing day. This shows our commitment and public faith,” he said.
“We represent every section of Jammu and Kashmir. Our doors are open to everyone who believes J&K is an integral part of India,” he added.
