JAMMU, Feb 12: A meeting of officers of Tourism, Revenue, Forest Departments and J&K Cable Car Corporation Ltd was held under the chairmanship of Minister for Tourism G.A. Mir to review status of Ropeway Project involving land acquisition by J&K Cable Car Corporation Ltd at Shahbad near Bahu Fort and Peer-kho here today.
Minister for Housing & Culture, Raman Bhalla, besides Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu, Secretary Tourism, Zaffar Ahmed Bhat, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, A.K. Sahu, Director Tourism Kashmir, Talat Parvez, Managing Director, J&K Cable Car Corporation Ltd, Tufail Mattoo, Special Secretary Forest and other officers of Tourism, Forest, Revenue and J&K Cable Car Corporation Ltd were present in the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner, Jammu informed that the process of acquisition of private land at both the spots is under progress and the land will be handed over to the Corporation so that the works of the much awaited Jammu Ropeway is started at the earliest.
The Forest Department has already submitted the memo to the State Cabinet for transfer of forest land to the J&K Cable Car Corporation Ltd as per the recommendation of Central Empowered Committee and directives of Supreme Court.
The Forest Advisory Committee in its 82nd meeting held on January 10, 2014 had cleared the transfer of 4.23 hac. of forest land to the Corporation for Ropeway project from Pirkoh to Mahamaya to Shahbad.
It was further informed in the meeting that the total length of the Ropeway will be 1137 meters and 483 meters respectively being built at an estimated cost of Rs. 40 crore for which the technical consultancy has been done by the M/s RITES. The allotment for execution of project has been already made in favour of M/s Damudar Ropeway, Kolkata.
The Ministers directed the concerned agencies to speed up the process for acquisition of required land so that the construction work on these projects is started soon.
