SSK pays tribute to martyrs of 1947-48

JAMMU, Feb 11: A memorial function was organized at Sharda Bhawan Bohri, Jammu under the aegis of Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra (SSK) to pay tribute to the forgotten sacrifices of Jammu and Kashmir especially who were brutally massacred in the Pakistani invasion of 1947 – 48.
On this occasion, two minutes silence was also observed for the supreme sacrifice of Indian Army and selective killings of other community of faith who laid their lives for the integrity and sovereignty of India.
The chief guest of the function and Member Advisory Committee of PoJK, R K Chhibber, while addressing the gathering threw light on the incidents of Pakistani invasion in the territory of India in Jammu and Kashmir after the partition and said that it has been recorded as a Black Day in history. He laid emphasis upon that the day is not far when Pakistan Occupied Jammu Kashmir will be again integral part of India.
The keynote speaker on this occasion, Dr. Ramesh Taimri left the gathering emotional by giving details of the heart-wrenching incidents of the days of 1947-48. Referring to his recently published book ‘Pakistan’s invasion in J&K 1947-48’, he said that the Pakistani invaders invaded Indian territory in a planned manner and killed hundreds and thousands of Hindus and Sikh community. On the authenticity of the content of his book he said that the incidents mentioned in the book are accompanied by facts and evidences.
On this occasion, Chairman of Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra, Dr. Maharaj Krishan Bharat, said that today there is much need to rebuild the factual narrative when it is being said that there was a Tribal attack on Jammu and Kashmir in 1947-48. In fact, it was not a tribal attak but Pakistani soldiers infiltrated the Indian borders in a planned manner and selectively killed civilians.
Narrating the story of families killed in the Gushi area during Pak invasion of 1947-48, Dr. Bharati Kaushal Bhat said that this is not the story of just one house, these are the real incidents of every second-third house in that area.
Radheshyam, a staunch worker of SSK conducted the proceedings. Lakshra Raina recited a patriotic song.
