RAMBAN, Feb 12: In a fire incident, three teenage sisters were burnt alive in Tajnihal village of Ramsu Sub Division here today during wee hours.
Official sources said that fire broke out in upper storey of a triple storey house of Abdul Lateif Lone in village Tajnihal at around 2 am and the three girls sleeping in a room at upper storey of the house were burnt alive.
“When mother of the deceased girls, sleeping with other family members at ground floor, stepped out and saw upper storey in flames, she raised alarm after which other family members rushed out to save their lives,” they maintained.
After hearing cries, neighbours rushed to the spot and tried to save the girls sleeping in upper storey of the house but their efforts failed as the upper storey of the house was completely engulfed by flames.
Fire tenders could not reach the spot due to lack of road connectivity to the area and the house suffered massive damage in fire incident.
Sources informed that in the morning, police and officers from Fire and Emergency Services reached the spot and retrieved three charred bodies.
The deceased were identified as Bisma Banoo, 17; Syqa Banoo, 15 and Sanya Banoo, 9, all daughters of Abdul Latief. Click here to watch video
Abdul Latief also suffered burn injuries in this incident.
After completing legal formalities police handed over the bodies to family members for last rites.
Assistant Director Fire and Emergency Services Ramban, Sahil Bandral said on getting information regarding the fire incident, two fire tenders from Ramban and Banihal Fire Stations were dispatched but due to lack of road connectivity fire tenders could not reach the spot.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and Ramsu Police have started investigation in this regard.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer Ul Haq Chaudhary has expressed shock over the incident while ADC Ramban, Harbans Lal Sharma along with other district officials visited Tajnihal and met the victim family and assured them all possible help.
DDC Chairperson Ramban, Shamshada Shan also visited the spot and assured the affected family of all help and assistance from administration.
Union MoS, Dr. Jitendra Singh has expressed grief over the incident.
On social media platform ‘X’ he wrote: “Just now spoke to DC #Ramban, Baseer-ul-Haq after learning about the unfortunate fire incident in Ramsoo area of district Ramban in which three lives were lost.”
He expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
