JAMMU, Feb 12: Continuing with the discussion on the Motion of Thanks in Legislative Council, G.N.Monga lauded the achievements of the Government.
Appreciating work done by two committees for creation of new administration units, Monga said that the demands of un-touched and hilly areas have been taken care of while implementing the reports of the Committees. He, however, pleaded for looking into similar demands of the people of other areas who are pressing for inclusion of their respective areas.
Regarding power sector, he said the initiatives taken by the Government are also encouraging and underlined need for checking transmission and distribution losses of electricity in the State.
B.R.Kundal appreciated the last five year achievements of the Government. He said declining militancy related incidents are good signs of peace, adding “there is no development without peace”.
Terming creation of new Administrative units and incorporating 73rd Amendments in PRI Act right decisions, he said that both the decisions will strengthen and improve the working of PRIs.
Mr Kundal called for changes in education system to develop skills among the educated youth in order to meet modern day requirements besides improving their employability.
Naresh Kumar Gupta said that accountability, transparency and responsive administration are important elements of good governance. He appreciated the Government for introduction of revolutionary acts like RTI, PSG etc, however, he added that there is need to further strengthen the Accountability Commission for better results. He also appreciated the Government decision for creation of new administrative units adding that it will ease the problems of the people living in hilly and remote areas.
G.Q.Pardesi lauded the decision of the Government regarding the creation of new administrative units. He said removing of bunkers and vacating of 1560 building including hotels, hospitals, schools and industrial units from security forces is a big achievement of the present Government. He said holding of Panchayati elections, creation of new administrative units, besides Accountability Commission, RTI and PSG Acts are among major decisions of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah lead Government.
Jahangir Hussain Mir said that incorporating provisions of 73rd Amendment Act in the Panchayati Raj Act is a good decision. He, however, called for greater attention of the Government towards agriculture, education, health and other important sectors.
Ajatshatru Singh said that Government has done well at different levels. He said health infrastructure has been upgraded and institutions well equipped to meet health care requirements. He called for expanding industrial unit base in the state to provide wider employment opportunities to the educated youth. He also appreciated enactment of various laws to empower the general public and drew attention of the Government towards promotion of Cooperative sector.
Sham Lal Bhagat said that though scores of schemes have been implemented but pointed out that certain schemes need to be implemented properly and their pace speeded up, so that the benefit percolates to the genuine beneficiaries. He pleaded for implementation of schemes launched in health sector and maintained PRIs can play important role in implementation of schemes in the State.
