KATRA, Feb 13: A Joint delegation of various organisations led by Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra (HRAK), called on Chairman cum Managing Director Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) & Principal Chief Commercial Manager Railways Sanjay Kumar Jain.
Chief Commercial Manager Railways S S Aggarwal, Station Director ( DTM) Jammu Parteek Srivastava, Divisional Commercial Manager Freight Manu Garg, Station Manager Katra Raj Kumar Hakku and others were also present on the occasion.
The delegation was comprising of HRAK President Rakesh Wazir, Chairman Shyam Lal Kesar, Sr Vice President HRAK & President Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Katra Virender Kesar, President Press Club Katra Arun Sharma, President Taxi Union Katra Parkash Raj, Rajeshwar Singh, Shubham Sharma and Rakesh Singh.
Rakesh Wazir, while speaking on the occasion, requested for starting of new trains to Katra besides extension of certain trains/DMUs which come upto Jammu/Udhampur only because most of the passengers in these trains remain the pilgrims of Vaishnodevi and besides inconvenience to the pilgrims is a major revenue loss to Railways as well.
He also suggested that world’s highest Railway bridge be developed as good Tourist destination with all Tourist facilities over there besides extending of vestadome to Katra/Jammu which is already running at Srinagar or new vestadome be started between Jammu & Srinagar.
Shyam Lal Kesar highlighted the issue of inconvenience to the Railway passengers in absence of escalators, lifts and other facilities at Katra Railway Station and requested for starting of electric cart service over here. He also suggested for standardized parking rate boards on all Railway Stations so that people may not be over charged.
Virender Kesar and Arun Sharma requested for opening of good restaurants on the pattern of Katra Railway Station at other Railway Stations as well for quality food, besides starting of more good IRCTC packages to Katra Vaishnodevi.
Jain listened to the delegation patiently and assured that things would be examined, and sympathetic consideration will given to each and every point raised in the meeting. He said that best facilities to the Railway passengers and best usage of the Railway infrastructure is the prime focus of Railways/IRCTC.
