POONCH, Feb 13: A fire incident took place in the Jama Masjid located in the town at Mendhar in Poonch district today.
Reports said there was a fire inside the mosque around 3 pm in the day. The locals of the area informed the Fire Services authorities at Mendhar.  While reaching the spot, the Fire tenders had to stand far away due to illegal parking and encroachment on the way and with great difficulty the fire was brought under control with the help of local people.
During this time, the people present there raised questions on the Mendhar administration and police.  Locals said that there are illegal vendors, and parking outside the main market mosque, about which the administration was informed several times, but the officers have completely failed in taking action in this regard.
Although the reason behind the fire was not clear, the police reached the spot, took stock of the incident and started investigation to find out the reason behind the fire. However, no major loss has been reported.
Locals have demanded from District administration Poonch that illegal parking and encroachment in the front of mosque and market area should be removed because if any accident occurs in the future, they may suffer huge losses.
