JAMMU, Feb 15: The University of Jammu will institute S D Rohmetra Gold Medal in Journalism & Media Studies, in memory of Founder Editor of the Daily Excelsior -largest circulated newspaper of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Gold Medal in memory of Late S D Rohmetra shall be awarded every year to the topper, each among boys and girls, qualifying Journalism and Media Studies from the University of Jammu.
On behalf of the Daily Excelsior, announcement in this regard was made by Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu and daughter of Late S D Rohmetra, during a function for laying foundation stone for the building block for Department of Journalism and Media Studies, JU, here today.
Late S D Rohmetra was one of the most prominent journalists who established Daily Excelsior newspaper 60 years back and served the field of journalism as well as the society through this endeavor.
