JAMMU, Feb 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact virtually with beneficiaries of seven major Government of India schemes during his visit to Jammu and Kashmir on February 20 to ascertain how the schemes have transformed the lives of the people and all the Deputy Commissioners of the Union Territory are in the process of making high-quality internet facilities available at district as well as identified block headquarters.
Official sources told EXCELSIOR that administration has received a communication that Prime Minister will interact with beneficiaries of seven major schemes through virtual mode and necessary arrangements in this regard should be made well in advance.
“All the Deputy Commissioners, in consultation with the concerned departments, are in the process of short listing the beneficiaries who will be available for interaction with the Prime Minister. In respect of three schemes—preferably women beneficiaries are being identified”, they said.
Some of the selected beneficiaries will be invited to the district headquarters while as others will be available at the identified block headquarters to share their success stories, sources further said, adding in order to ensure uninterrupted interaction through virtual mode the Deputy Commissioners are making seamless internet connectivity available at the identified block headquarters as majority of the district headquarters are already having this facility.
They further said, “Prime Minister wants to listen directly from the beneficiaries as to how these seven major schemes of the Government of India have transformed their lives and what efforts are being made by the administration to bring more people under the ambit of these schemes”, adding “the administration of the Union Territory has also prepared lists of scheme-wise beneficiaries of the schemes for the appraisal of the Prime Minister”.
These schemes include Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) being implemented by Rural Development Department, PM Kisan being implemented by Agriculture Department, Jal Jeevan Mission being supervised by the Jal Shakti Department, National Rural Livelihood Mission being implemented by Rural Development Department, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY)/Ayushman Bharat, PM Ujjwala and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) being implemented by the Science and Technology Department.
In respect of PMAY-G, the Prime Minister would like to know how the houses have benefitted the beneficiaries while as about PM Kissan the beneficiaries will inform Prime Minister about any difficulty they faced in obtaining funds.
Likewise, in respect of Jal Jeevan Mission, the Prime Minister will enquire about the earlier condition, walking distance and benefit to the beneficiaries. About NRLM, PM will ascertain how funds were used and whether beneficiaries faced any difficulty in getting training and loan while as in respect of PMJAY the PM will enquire about difficulties in availing treatment under this scheme. About PM-KUSUM, the PM will be informed by the beneficiaries about the benefits in farming and impact on farm output.
The aim of PMAY-G is to provide Pucca house with some of the basic amenities to those people who don’t own a house and people who live in Kutcha houses or houses which are severely damaged while as under PM Kisan basic financial support is provided to the small and marginal land-holding farmer families provided it is cultivable land.
The Jal Jeevan Mission is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections to all households in rural India. The Mission is based on a community approach to water and includes extensive information, education and communication as key components.
The National Rural Livelihood Mission is aimed at creating efficient and effective institutional platforms of the rural poor, enabling them to increase household income through sustainable livelihoods enhancements and improved access to financial services.
PM-JAY is the world’s largest health insurance/ assurance scheme fully financed by the Government. It provides a cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization across public and private empanelled hospitals in India.
PM-Ujjwala targets households that still use traditional cooking fuels, which can be harmful to health and the environment. Under Ujjwala 2.0, eligible beneficiaries receive financial help to get an LPG connection along with a gas stove and a cylinder. Likewise, PM-KUSUM is one of largest initiatives of the Government of India to provide clean energy to farmers by solarising their agriculture pump.
