Drug Control team conducts inspection of medical shops

AKHNOOR, Feb 17: As a part of ongoing campaign, a team of Drug and Food Control Organization Jammu conducted a surprise inspection in Khour and Jourian area of Akhnoor today.
A special team led by Deputy Drug Controller Jammu, Mohd Iqbal Palla, under the over all supervision of State Drugs Controller Lotika Khajuria conducted surprise inspection of scores of Medical/Drugs shops in Khour, Pallanwalla, Jourina and Akhnoor area and warned the traders not to sell banned drugs and keep record of the drugs specifically advised to the chronic patients by the doctors/medicos.
An awareness workshop was also held at Khour town which was attended by medical shop owners and the local citizens. Deputy Drug Controller Jammu informed that the Government has initiated proactive measures to see the society free of substance abuse. The Department under the overall supervision of State Drug Controller has initiated special drive to ensure that the pharmacies dispense medicines in the best interest of public and the patient care.
The Chemist fraternity was impressed upon to adhere the condition of licence and mandate of law and to dispense medicines strictly in consonance with registered medical practitioners only.
Assistant Drug Controller Jammu, Arvind Sharma informed the Pharma dealers to install CCTVs and computerized billing system as per the directives of the Government. He further emphasised that complete sale records have to be maintained for Schedule-H1 medicines and in particular the formulations prone to cause addiction and warned the trade fraternity to desist from any unethical trade practices.
Drug Control Officer Amit Mahajan also spoke on the occasion and asked the chemists to conduct sale of such Medicinal preparations in the quantity prescribed only against the prescription of doctor and to keep a record of complete information of consumers.
