CJM Reasi denies bail to man booked for killing wife

JAMMU, Feb 17: Archana Charak, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Reasi today denied bail to Rakesh Kumar, son of Sagar Chand of Marhi who has been arrested for killing his wife.
As per police report, on 8/11 /2023 accused Rakesh Kumar had a fight with his wife Sushma Devi at their residence during which accused pushed her wife due to which Sushma Devi fell and sustained injuries on her neck.
Initially inquest proceedings under Section 174 of CRPC had been initiated and their after converted into 304 (II) IPC during investigation. APP Ashwani Kumar resisted the bail application by filing objections stating therein that investigation of the case is at threshold and will get adversely affected if the accused is released on bail.
While rejecting the bail, court observed, “accused had strained relations with deceased wife and son of accused in his statement under Section 164 CRPC before Magistrate clearly stated that his father pushed his mother on the ground and when he along with his brother entered the room the accused was beating Sushma Devi”.
Keeping in view the gravity of offence for which the punishment can extend up to 10 years of imprisonment and in the interest of society, court rejected the bail application of the accused Rakesh Kumar.
